Hello World!

Hello World!

…ok, maybe I should put a little more into my first post than just “Hello World!”.

My name is Martin Körner, I’m studying computer science at the University of Koblenz-Landau, Campus Koblenz, Germany, and I’m currently writing my bachelor thesis.

I’ve been playing with the idea of starting a blog for quite some time and, as you can see, I couldn’t resist any longer. But why?
Well, the main reason sounds a little boring at first: I want to learn from it! And that’s why I’m writing my posts in English. Sure I’m not good at it but hopefully that’s going to change over time. So please be patient with grammatical and spelling errors and don’t hesitate to tell me about them. Of course the content itself is more important than the language it’s written in so what are the topics covered in this blog?
Since I’m going to start studying Web Science later this year, many posts will come from this direction but of course there are other things that interest me. Recently I’ve switched from Windows to Linux and was amazed by the many options in optimizing daily workflows. So probably there will be some posts about my experiences with the tiling window manager i3 (thanks to Onse for showing it to me!) or the text editor Vim. All in all it’s going to be a lot about computers ‘n’ stuff.

So much for this short introduction. See you again at my first post with actual content. :-)

P.S. The design of this blog is work in progress and your feedback is highly appreciated!

    Hey Martin,

it will be great to read about your thoughts on web science, Linux and everything else.
As a feedback on the design.
I really like the two way social buttons and also your url shortening service. I would anyway recommand that you put the short link inside a textboox that does an autoselect if you click inside. In this way people can easily copy the link.

Also I don’t see any way of email subscription for your blog.

      Hey René,

      thanks for your feedback!
The autoselect is a good idea. I’ll definitely build that in. And the email subscription is another point on my to-do list.
